Friendly, reliable & professional.
Great service start to finish from Ryan and his team. From first meeting to test, everyone has been welcoming.
Pricing is honest, and their membership tier system worked well for me- triggering discounted aircraft hire rates. There are enough aircraft to cope if one or two are in maintenance.
The club house is comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere that encourages general aviation topics, as well as normal conversation. Refreshments and (usual) plentiful snacks fuel the pilots and instructors.
The aircraft that I have flown are honest and serviceable machines that have been looked after for many years. Let’s be honest- they’re training aircraft, so don’t expect too much, but there is a good culture of mechanical sympathy trained into you from the start to ensure good practice, and they are perfect for the job in hand.
Special mention to Nick Clarke (my main instructor) who has the patience of a saint!
Having gained my license, there is no question in my mind that I will continue to use Aerohire (if they still let me in) for self flying hire and skills building. I plan piper low wing differences training in the new year (which they are also equipped for.)
Go and meet them- it won’t be the right place for everybody, but I am certainly glad that I found Aerohire.
The best flying school at halfpenny Green! Love that it’s a club and that I’m always welcome! Tea’s and snacks. Instructors acknowledge! It’s the best place to be, if you’re starting your aviation journey or qualified. Everyone is friendly and will go above and beyond to help you, or guide you. So glad I decided to change my learning to Aeros after an experience with another school. Great choice of aeroplanes, theory on flying is dealt with. Struggled with my theory, but the ground school team and instructors helped me so much!
Thank you for everything guys!
I kind of feel a bit sorry for Aerohire, because I didn't present them with an easy win. I came from another school where I'd been messed around, had wasted lots of time and money getting nowhere and which eventually combusted (complete with people's money). I was disillusioned and not feeling very confident or enthusiastic about continuing with flight training. As a holder of a brand new and shiny PPL qualification, I'm so glad that I chose Aerohire to continue with - they worked a minor miracle.
First of all, you're not going to lose money because there's no paying upfront - you pay lesson by lesson, as you go. They're honest and above board, not interested in just pocketing money without providing what is promised.
Secondly, they actually want you to get through your training and not just waste time. My main instructor was Shaun, who was a joy to fly with and a brilliant teacher, and somehow managed to get me to the end of the course; but I also had lessons with other instructors there who were similarly motivated and encouraging. Ryan, the owner, was a constant source of motivation and advice, and he was absolutely determined to get me to the finish line. He actually cares! Everybody also ends up being thankful to Milo, cheerleader/ground school instructor/ops supremo/super pilot. The best.
Atmosphere in the school/club is great and very friendly. The building itself is well kitted out for exams, lessons, and also just for sharing stories with other members over biscuits. It's not unknown for members to call in even when they're not flying, just for the atmosphere and views.
The school provides a selection of aircraft including PA28s, Cessna 172s and 150/152s, all well maintained. Flying school airplanes will rarely be new, but the importance is how they're treated. It's very reassuring to have seen how much attention they pay to maintenance and ensuring that they are all in top condition. No corners cut! Booking is via an online system, making it much easier to see availability and plan ahead. Flying is not a cheap hobby, but the prices here are very fair and competitive.
My advice? If you're considering learning to fly or just trying it out to scratch an itch, give them a call or drop them a line. They're a bunch of truly great people who will make it worth your while. Wholeheartedly recommend!
My pilot was Steve who had amazing communication throughout from the booking process to the end. Steve was very professional and and very knowledgeable about the proceeds and procedures of the aeroplane and flight. Hospitality was on point and also made sure everything was in order to secure a smooth flight process. I would definitely recommend this service will be using him again
I have just recently passed my skills test after training with Aerohire and I can honestly say they are the best school on the field. Every single member of staff make you feel like family. You are always welcome for a coffee, tea, drink, snack even if you are not flying!
I did all my training with Ryan and I can honestly say, he is just absolutely amazing. Always there to help.
There is also ground school available with Milo, which I can say, he is extremeley knowledgeable and can always help you with anything!
I have nothing else to say on the matter apart from a massive thank you to Aerohire. You really are a great set of people I am happy to call family.
